My little Mimi is 1 year old!
I can't even believe how quick this past year has gone.
Her proud daddy put Mia on the local news for first birthdays:
At 1 year old Mia:
weighs 17 lbs 10 ozs- which is the 3rd percentile
is 29 in long- which is the 40th percentile
eats everything we eat- she loves pizza, spaghetti and scrambled eggs
drinks milk from a sippy- she is fully weaned as of Saturday (this makes me sad)
makes all kinds of silly faces
This is Mimi's silly new sad face. She makes this funny fake cry sound while making this face.
took her first step on her birthday and 5 steps on Saturday. She is very excited about walking.
still loves reading. I let her play in her room alone for a little bit each day. She always spends the whole time taking 1 book from her shelf, looking through the book page by page and then choosing another book. I love to stand in the doorway and watch her without her knowing. It is so sweet how she points to things in the pictures and kisses the animals and babies-
she is a little lover!
loves, loves, loves her daddy. As soon as she hears the garage door go up, she crawls over to the gate and stands there saying "da da, da da." It's the greatest part of the day!
Is completely weaned from her paci as of last month. That was a hard habit to break, but we wanted her to be done with it and thought 12 months was a perfect time.
She also loves to dance- here is a video of 2 of her favorite things-
although almost all of the water is already drained from the tub.
.
knows how to sign- milk, dog, fish, phone (sigh), brush, please, all gone/done, water, drink, eat, more, book, shoes, bye bye, touchdown
.
We are still working on: sorry, help, thank you
knows where her head, hair, ear, nose, mouth, eyes, feet, toes, hands are tummy are
loves to play with babies. She loves to rock, hug and kiss her dolls. She named one of her babies "yayyay"- it's so stinkin cute to watch her take care of her dolls.
.
wants to do most everything by herself already. She will push your hand away if she doesn't want your help. What will she be like when she's 2?!?
.
I had to have the temper tantrum discussion with her pediatrician at her 12 month appt (She said she has never had it so early- great). She watched her play and tear the room apart and watched her throw a fit when I told her no. After much discussion she said she thinks she is advanced cognitively and has the cognitive development of about a 18 month old. So, she thinks we should start giving her very short time outs when she throws a fit! First we have to stop laughing at her fits- I know it's terrible! :)
.
is such a HAPPY little girl!! She loves to smile and laugh.
This is a prayer Craig and I wrote for Mia. We framed it and hung it in her bedroom:
Mia, our deepest desire is that you know and love Jesus as your Savior. We pray that you grasp how wide and how long and high and deep is His love. May you live your life in such a way that you hear well done good and faithful one.
Mia, we hope you bring as much joy to those in your life as you have brought into our life. May you delight in simple things and work hard at living in peace with others every day.
We hope you grow in patience through life’s struggles.
We pray that you bless others through your kindness and compassion. Let your gentleness be evident to all.
May your goodness lead others to love Jesus.
Mia, we pray that you are faithful in prayer so that you have COURAGE to stand for your beliefs.
Let God’s grace lead you to live a self controlled life.
We pray that our love for each other teaches you to show love, our time in PRAYER teaches you to talk to Jesus, our quiet times teach you to study His word, our devotion to each other teaches you to make a lifelong commitment one day, our mistakes teach you that we don’t expect you to be perfect and our laughter teaches you to have fun and be silly!
Mia Lee, our love for you is never ending.
You are such a joy in our life! We love you so….
Stay tuned for party pictures...
